Outreach news

The Wang Materials Group joins the Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program again and hosts one elementary school teacher and one middle school teacher. With Brian and Mia as mentors, the teachers investigated the adsorption energies of different transition metal atoms at monolayer MoS2 (poster) and developed classroom activities exploring electrical resistance. 

Summer 2026

The Wang Materials Group hosts two high school teachers through the Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program. The teachers created physical models of electrical resistance and created a workflow for automating DFT calculations. Their mentor Brian also received an honorable mention for his mentorship efforts.

Summer 2025

Olive Norian and Jeniah Terry join as undergraduate researchers through the UT FUSE (Fusing Undergrads with Science and Engineering) program.
